Basics in Technology Transfer: For University Faculty & Research Staff

Want to advance your discoveries and innovations out of the lab and into the marketplace? Innovation Partners teamed up with AUTM to build upon our existing partnership to offer this online course. Through a series of webinars and activities, this course will help university researchers understand the basics of technology transfer beginning with invention disclosure, all the way to marketing the invention so that it can be licensed. Discover the fundamental building blocks of technology transfer – from compliance, policy and intellectual property to technology transfer agreements, terms and forms.

Patent Vector Analytics

This is a self-paced course that will guide you through use of the Patent Vector software to analyze patents, technology, and innovation trends. Patent Vector not only provides users with access to viewing thousands of patents from across the globe, but also provides tools to analyze the importance and impact of the patent, the assignees and the inventors. Texas A&M University is currently the only university to have free access to this tool and it is available to all Texas A&M faculty, staff and students.

Intellectual Property – Protecting Your Ideas

In this course, you will gain an understanding of the main issues related to intellectual property, learn about the patent filing process, and learn how an intellectual property attorney can help you with the patent process. The course is designed for faculty wanting to learn how the university protects the inventions coming out of research labs, students who have an idea they think might be patentable but don’t know where to start, and graduate students or post docs working in research where intellectual property is being generated.
